Cavalier King Charles Spaniels were bred to be comfort dogs. They are small and bred to be exceptionally loyal and affectionate.Their small size and being affectionate by nature make them excellent lap dogs.
It may come as a surprise but having your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel sleep in bed with you may not be the best idea.

On the human side of it, by sleeping with your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel you can increase your chances for some skin and other diseases. If you have allergies or asthma, sharing the bed with your pet is a horrible idea. Dog’s fur can carry a lot of allergens. By letting your dog into your bed you're bringing those allergens directly into your bed. It is suggested that your dog not even sleep in the same room if you are affected by these. These risks are very uncommon but they are very possible. You should always make sure your dog is in good health.
Your dog can cause disruption in your sleep or social life. Your Cavalier King Charles Spaniels may be a bed hog or try to snuggle up close waking you. Some dogs twitch and move in their sleep.
